Privacy Policy

The Basics

I know. It’s weird that a personal website has a privacy policy.

However, I’m a big believer in the idea that our personal data should not be exploited. The internet has become one big marketing tool and we the product. That’s why I’ve created this page—to tell you exactly what of your information can be seen, and who is able to see it.

The answer to “who” is me.

The answer to “what” is basically nothing.

This site makes no external connections to google,1 facebook, twitter, or other social media sites. This site does use analytics (using a self-hosted Matomo instance) that respects do not track and anonymizes all data. Technically, I have tools in Matomo for GDPR, but I don’t collect any information that is personally identifiable.2 My server is a VPS through Digital Ocean. Currently, only the analytics cookies are set but no others. Feel free to block cookies or remove them after leaving the site. There is currently no way to capture “voluntary” information (i.e. a form).

In short, your privacy is fully respected, and no information is given to me through the site other than the first two bytes of your IP address. That is, if you don’t have “do not track” turned on. In which case, no information is given to me.

Footnotes

  1. This includes opting out of Google’s FLoC Network. This is done at the server level, so even Chrome Users are protected. This site does not use Google Analytics, Google Fonts, or any other Google services. ↩︎

  2. IP addresses captured by my analytics are anonymized to 2 bytes (e.g., 192.168.xxx.xxx), which technically means that even geolocation data is largely inaccurate. ↩︎
