Credo

Credo is the latin term translated “I believe.” This page is a statement of what I believe in regard to the Christian faith.
Doctrine//Essentials
The Nature of God – One What and Three Whos
I believe that there is one God who eternally exists in three persons. Each united in their essence of Godness, they are distinct in their roles. The mystery of the trinity is that the tri-unity of God is not simply that the Father assumes the role of the Son, and then the role of the Holy Spirit, nor is there three separate Gods.
The Person and Nature of Jesus – Son of God
I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, taking on a human nature while remaining fully God. He was not made nor created, but eternally co-eternal with the Father and Holy Spirit. I believe that Jesus lived a sinless life, was crucified as a sacrifice for sin, was raised from the dead, ascended to Heaven, and will one day return to hand his kingdom over to the father and initiate the eternal new creation.
The Beauty and Depravity of Every Person
I believe that human beings were created in image of God (Imago Dei), and are therefore imbued with intrinsic beauty, value, and dignity. This includes are creation as both male and female, our relational aspects, our creativity, our abilities to love, etc. At the same time, because we have sinned, that image of God is still existant, but fractured. As a result, we choose to rebel against God and each other. We are able to both produce beauty and injustice, give life and take it away. And because the ultimate reality of our sin is the severed relationship with God it causes, we are all in need of salvation.
Salvation in Jesus Alone
I believe that all people everywhere are sinful by nature and action, under the just judgment of the creator, and in need of salvation. God, in his mercy and grace, has provided salvation in the historical work of Jesus and his death and resurrection. This salvation is a gift from God, received by faith alone.
The Church
I believe that the church is comprised of all believers at all times, and finds its expression in local congregations. It is the people who are the Church, and not the building where they meet. The church can be recognized in the preaching of the true Gospel, the administration of the sacraments/ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s supper, and in church discipline.
The Second Coming of Jesus
I believe that Jesus will return to earth to bring history as we know it to it’s appointed and intended close. At his coming, the dead will be physically raised from the dead and judged- those who rejected God to eternal judgment, and those who put their faith in Christ to eternal life. The entire cosmos will be renewed and redeemed, and God will reign with his people for eternity in the new creation.
