Definitely bro-
Although I think the NLT can be used for study if used wisely, moreso now that the NLT study bible adds a bit more transparency to the original text in certain places. I don’t think its at a place where we use it by itself, but certainly in conjunction with something like the NASB.

My Hebrew prof Dr. Futato was talking about this today in class actually. He said that there is no word-for-word translation, because English loses a lot that Hebrew contains, and that the versions can be based on readability to “studyability” (yes I just made up that word). The NLT is better to just read, while the ESV and NASB stay more on the study side, and the NIV is like in the middle of it all, which is why its the most used. I never actually thought about that until this morning, but it seems to make sense.
