Keith
Ooh a week? I just got the Vicodin, and also 600 mgs of Ibuprofin the day before. I had been taking whatever painkillers I could on my own though, between times. Just as you said, the pain was pretty horrible prior to surgery. Some of the worst pain I've ever dealt with, and I'm pretty accident prone. But yeah, here I am about 3 days after, and all I have is a dull ache where the gums are stitched. No where near the pain I had been feeling.

I was going in and out during my procedure. I do remember waking up long enough to answer a question, and then watch a saw go into my mouth- without any batting of an eyelash on my part haha. The next three hours after the surgery are absolutely lost. Mom keeps telling me about things I did or said during that time and I have absolutely no recollection of doing or saying any of them. They actually gave me the teeth afterward as well. Two of them are still in one piece, while the other two are in multiple pieces. It's funny to think about, because they were obviously still one piece in my mouth before the procedure... hmm... haha.

They gave me oxycontin for about a week leading up to the extraction, and boy did I need it. But on the day of the surgery, I opted for just laughing gas, and I was awake through most of the procedure. Saws, drills, sadistic -looking pliers. Lots of cracking and popping as they yanked teeth, but virtually no pain. And after another three or four days of oxycodone, I've had a pain-free and happy mouth ever since.

I'm glad you were able to get it worked out to have them pulled. Even with the painkillers, that couple of weeks between the tooth cracking (one of mine cracked open and got infected) and the surgery was horrible. I was feeling for you when you said you might have to wait it out for a while.

Thanks, and happy new years to you!

I did Valium 45 mins before the surgery, laughing gas during, and they gave me some sort of IV. Not even sure what it was for. haha.

Your wisdom tooth story was almost identical to mine, only I had mine extracted in June. Did you just do laughing gas?

Happy Birthday!
