Nathan, my desktop did die, and I still have not bought a new laptop. I have two laptops from work and she told me to just use those. Ugh - I do want to buy a new one but I can't decided if I am going to go with a Mac, or stick with a PC. I am at a crossroads. I really like PC's but I thought maybe I should give Mac's a try.

Now, you need a good setup for working with a laptop at a desk. Here's a picture of my setup in my office at the library:

http://tinyurl.com/53ma72

My MacBook is on on "iStand" from Griffin. They don't make that particular one anymore, but they now offer the "Elevator": http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/elevator

I don't recommend Apple monitors--not because of quality, but just because they're overpriced. The monitor you see in the picture is a 19" LCD I got from Office Depot which was $150 after mail in rebate. I also have a wireless keyboard and mouse in the picture, too, but really all you need is a USB hub and you can connect a keyboard, mouse and printer all in one USB port. What can't be seen in my picture is the USB hub I use which connects both my printer and scanner.

It certainly fits my needs at the moment- I have yet another paper on 2 Corinthians after this one is finished, so they will be my main books on the desk for the next few months anyhow haha.

Also, as a bonus, the printer that I had previously used with my desktop (running Ubuntu linux) works "out of the box" with my laptop, so no need to get a new one!
